Metro Rail is a mass rapid transit system in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The line will be 20.10 kilometers long and will have 16 stations, connecting the northern suburb of Uttara with the central business hub of Motijheel. The line will have both elevated and underground sections and will be capable of carrying up to 60,000 passengers per hour in each direction.

The construction of the Dhaka Metro Rail started in 2010, and it has faced several challenges, including delays and cost overruns. However, the project has been moving forward. The first phase of Dhaka Metro's MRT Line 6 (11.73-kilometre-long Uttara–Agargaon) has formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Dec 28, 2022. The entire 21.26-kilometer-long Uttara–Kamalapur metro rail route will be inaugurated in December 2025.

Dhaka metro rail is expected to have a significant impact on the city's economy. It will provide a faster, safer, and more comfortable mode of transportation, reducing travel times and traffic congestion. 

The system will also be environmentally friendly, reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. The Dhaka Metro will also boost economic growth by improving connectivity within the city and providing better access to job opportunities and markets
